UGOCHUKWU SHOWS PROMISING PACE AT MUGELLO

The first Italian round of the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine comes to a close at the Mugello Circuit.

At the start of the weekend, Ugochukwu and Prema Racing took to the track to find the best setup possible for the flowing Mugello circuit in the collective tests.
In the hot morning conditions, Ugo showed promising pace, setting the ninth fastest time in the first collective test.

Following this good session, the New Yorker went out on track for the second collective test, aiming to do even better than in the morning. In even hotter conditions, Ugochukwu seemed to struggle, ending the session in P28.

The first qualifying session was held on Saturday morning and the 2023 Euro 4 Champion went out on track aiming for the best possible time, but the session proved to be a difficult one for Ugo as he would set the sixth fastest time in his group, putting him P12 on the grid for race one.

Race one was held on a hot Saturday afternoon, starting in P12, Ugo made had a lightning start, passing four cars before the first corner and staying in the points positions throughout all the race, ending the first race of the weekend in P10, two places higher than he started.

Determined to make the most out of the weekend, he then took on the second qualifying session of the weekend, which was held on Sunday morning. The McLaren junior went out on track and as soon as it was time to set representative lap times, Ugochukwu was immediately on the pace, setting the second best time in his group for most of the session, only getting bested by teammate Rafael Camara late in the session, ending qualifying with the third best time of his group.

Committed on bettering his weekend session-by-session, the 17-year old American started fifth in the second race of the weekend, but faced difficulties throughout the race, suffering from a loss of pace, falling to P13 by the end of the race.

A difficult but promising weekend at Mugello for Ugo Ugochukwu, who is determined to improve his results round after round as he rises through the ranks of single-seaters.
