Ugo Ugochukwu takes Austrian silverware in positive Spielberg round
As the halfway mark of the 2026 FIA Formula 3 Championship nears its end, Ugo Ugochukwu still is yet to be dethroned from the top of the standings following a strong showing at the fourth round of the season, held at the Red Bull Ring.
Continuing on the impressive form shown in the first three rounds, Ugo put his car second on the timing sheets in Friday’s qualifying session, earning him his third front row start of the season for Sunday’s feature race.
In the partially-reversed grid Sprint Race on Saturday, Ugo stayed out of trouble at the start and kept a cool head to cross the line in 10th, before being promoted to ninth after another driver was disqualified.
From second on the grid for the feature race, Ugo brilliantly took the lead at the start, as the race was neutralized due to a crash behind him. When the race restarted, Ugo was locked into a three-way battle for first, which lasted through the rest of the race. In a hard-fought battle to stay at the front, Ugo kept his composure to salvage a valuable second-place finish, allowing him to maintain his championship lead over the rest of the field.
A strong and consistent weekend for Ugo, who will be looking to hold on to the points lead in the next round of the FIA Formula 3 season at the Silverstone, on 3-5 July.
