Ugo Ugochukwu takes hard-fought podium in Hungary

Seven rounds into the 2026 FIA Formula 3 season, Ugo Ugochukwu remains in the title fight, with a brilliant podium in Hungary after a race-long fight against his title rival showing a true warrior’s spirit in the closing rounds of the season.

The final round before the summer break started on a positive note for Ugo, as he set the eighth-fastest time in practice, before qualifying sixth on Friday, to put himself in the mix for both races.

In the partially reverse-grid sprint race, Ugo made good progress from seventh, running as high as fifth as he kept himself out of trouble in the early stages. However, he was unfortunately taken out of contention for better results after contact with another driver, leaving him hungry for more in the feature race.

In Sunday’s feature race, Ugo kept himself clean in the first half of the race, running fourth for most of it, before making a brilliant move around the outside of Turn 2 to move up two places in one corner in brave fashion. From there, he hunted down his championship rival and began battling hard for the win, and came out of it finishing second, firmly placing himself in the battle for the championship with two rounds to go.

A promising round for Ugo, who will be looking to continue his title fight in the next round of the FIA Formula 3 season at Monza, on 5-6 September.
